Experts in Design and building for people with Special Needs
Designing accessible environments for the disabled requires a unique vision.
Designing and building a barrier-free environment either wheelchair adapted or for special needs is typically a once in a lifetime project, and great care is taken to ensure that the finished product will continue to meet the needs of our clients throughout their life.
Our goal is to to create spaces that help people thrive in their home environments from lifestyle to livelihood, reflect their interests and transform their homes into a safe haven meeting all of their needs.
We act in partnership with our clients to drill down into their own specific and particular needs.
Prior to beginning any project, meetings are held with the client and their family, Occupational Therapists and Care Team to evaluate particular needs for access, living space and specialist equipment. We consult closely with families, carers, deputies and other health professionals to ensure we meet the individual needs of our clients. We recognise that all our clients have very particular needs and aspirations and that there is no "one size fits all" solution for any project. We then come up with innovative, yet practical design solutions so that these requirements are then built into a carefully crafted design, always with an eye on cost considerations for our clients.
The design of disabled access equipment is constantly evolving, and so we take care to keep up with new developments in the market to ensure that we provide the best solution to the needs of our clients. Such needs may be provided by a wide range of equipment, ranging from hoists and support equipment to remote control systems and Assistive Technology. Spaces can be designed and created to provide barrier-free access and freedom of movement. We understand how these diverse elements of the building and services work best together and can advise on these complex matters in a considered, understandable and straightforward way for our clients.
Designing for people with disabilities
At CBS Consultancy we specialise in designing homes to meet the most exacting requirements of people with special needs. We cover the entire design process, from an initial feasibility report or concept – which may include assessment of appropriate properties - through to planning applications, costing, detailed specifications and tendering. We also handle all related building legislation and grant applications and provide advice to Deputies for the Court of Protection.
CBS Consultancy also provides project management services throughout the construction phase, including management of contractors and periodic valuations.
Whether the client's requirements are for a simple conversion – for example, to provide an accessible bathroom or to install ramps – or more complex installations such as lifts, or even a completely new building, CBS Consultancy has the expertise to meet your needs as professionally qualified specialists in special needs housing design.
We pride ourselves in meeting our clients essential needs whilst maintaining a home environment that remains first and foremost an attractive home, not an institution.
